In this course, students improve their ability to communicate by utilizing sensitive cross-cultural writing and speaking techniques. Students learn to use appropriate eye contact, body language, space/proximity, negotiating, and credibility building in a variety of cultural contexts.

This course is for level students who wish to enhance the skills they developed in Business Spanish or Business Mandarin. In this course, you will refine and polish your writing, reading, listening and speaking skills through intensive business simulations, role-plays and expansion activities. You will develop complex language structure, increasingly sophisticated business vocabulary, pronunciation and culture.

Engage in extended conversation in Mandarin Chinese about social relationships, health, geography and the arts. Learn how to describe people, places and things. Expand your grammatical usage by talking about personal experiences. Read and write descriptions and short texts.

Increase your earning potential by developing your foreign language skills. Our Business Spanish and Business Mandarin courses offer quality language instruction, which will help you to communicate effectively with your clients, customers and global partners. The focus of Business Spanish and Business Mandarin is on relevant language structure, business vocabulary, pronunciation and culture. It is recommended that students complete level 3 of Spanish or Mandarin in the Language and Culture Program before entering this course.

Planning, supervision, control and performance of activities involved in the operation of a business will be emphasized in this survey course. Students will explore the problems of human relations, labor management, as well as the functions of personnel, marketing, purchasing, production, economics and finance. The class objective is to learn to conduct business that positively relates to society.

Target student: Small business owners who are ready to take their businesses to the next step, those looking to open their own businesses.

This course reviews the environmental factors affecting trade, the elements of an international contract, dispute resolution, rates of exchange, pricing terms, negotiation terms and communications, transportation, financing procedures, documentation, insurance, information resources, government regulations and international trade organizations. The course is designed to serve the student who is new to international trade, as well as the student who has limited experience in international trade.
 This course is approved by The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. to offer CEUs applicable to the continuing education requirements of professionals holding the Certified Export Specialist (CES) or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designations. This course covers the basic structure of an organization and how the essential managerial functions of planning, organizing, motivating, directing, controlling, and leading relate to one another as well as to the organizations mission. The course also introduces the psychology of management, interpersonal dynamics between managers and employees, power and politics, and organizational change.
